Woman charged with having MDMA in her sports bra

A woman was arrested in the Florida Keys after she attempted to hide MDMA, also known as Molly, inside her sports bra, authorities claimed. The 32-year-old woman was accused of possession of 2.5 grams of MDMA. She allegedly had two cigarettes laced with MDMA, a cigar with white residue that had been partially smoked and a $10 bill with white residue in her possession. Sheriffs claimed that the woman admitted that the items belonged to her.

She was accused of felony drug possession, providing law enforcement with a fake name and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was originally found in the Sugarloaf Lodge, where police were involved in an ongoing hit-and-run investigation. The car accident involved no serious injuries. The arrested woman allegedly matched the description of a woman involved in the crash. When she was approached by the police, she said she did not have identification with her and gave a false name. She eventually supplied her real one.

Drug charges, especially felony counts, can carry severe, lifelong consequences. This makes it especially important for people arrested on the basis of criminal drug charges to work with a criminal defense lawyer. Counsel can help to challenge evidence and can work to exclude evidence that was improperly obtained or to challenge searches that were not justified under the law.

For example, if drugs are found in a person's car during a traffic stop, a defense attorney might challenge the stop as being conducted without the requisite reasonable suspicion. When the evidence appears to be strong, however, it might be advisable to seek a plea bargain.
