Colts Player Charged with DUI
March 3, 2017
Florida NFL fans may have heard that David Parry, a member of the Indianapolis Colts, was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, criminal damage, suspicion of robbery and auto theft after an incident that occurred on Feb. 25. According to the police report, a man with a golf cart gave Parry and two other men a ride. When the two other men got off the golf cart, Parry allegedly hit the driver in the head and stole the cart. He then crashed into a gate.
Police arrived after a hit-and-run was reported and said Parry swore at them and used homophobic slurs. They also said that he was dry-heaving and admitted to having a lot to drink.
The incident occurred in Arizona. The Colts say that they are looking into the situation. Parry has been a starter in every game since he signed with the Colts in 2015.
In some cases, when pro athletes are charged with drunk driving or similar offenses, they may be suspended for a period of time, so it is possible that Parry’s starting streak might come to an end. People in other professions, such as health care or education, who face DUI charges might be similarly penalized. In addition to career repercussions, there may also be serious legal and financial consequences to a drunk driving charge. Charges could include fines and even jail time. Therefore, people who are facing drunk driving charges might want to talk to an attorney about their options. These could range from raising questions about officers’ versions of events or the accuracy of a Breathalyzer test to negotiating a plea bargain
